Do I need asbestos testing?
If your building was built before the 1980s and you’re planning a renovation, demolition, flooring or ceiling work, testing first is the safe move. You should also test if you find damaged old insulation, pipe wrap, popcorn ceilings or old floor tiles.
Is asbestos dangerous if I leave it alone?
Asbestos-containing materials that are intact and undisturbed generally aren’t the concern. The risk comes when the material is damaged or disturbed and fibers get into the air. A test tells you what you actually have.
Can I take samples myself?
We recommend against it. Cutting or scraping a suspect material can release fibers. A trained technician collects samples in a way that limits disturbance.
How do you test for asbestos?
A technician collects small samples from suspect materials, and the samples go to an independent laboratory for analysis. You receive a written report listing what was found and where.
How long do asbestos test results take?
Standard lab turnaround is typically a few days, and rush options may be available. Ask when you request your quote.
